So often in leadership, the focus falls on structures, roles, vision, and goals. All of these matter. But there is another aspect of leadership that is sometimes less obvious, harder to define, yet just as important: culture.

In this sermon, Vahe unpacks Jacob's dream where he sees a ladder/staircase linking heaven and earth. He unpacks the extraordinary truth that God comes down the staircase to be with Jacob (Genesis 28:10-22, NRSV). Jesus references this dream in John 1:51 and makes the amazing claim that He is the One who comes down from heaven to be with us. Jesus is God with us. Vahe further describes practices he has found helpful to grow in our awareness of God's presence with us. Finally, he encourages us to hold on to the truth that God is committed to us, is with us, and is for us. As we do so, we are promised both freedom from fear and strength to persevere.

In this message, we explore the meaning of freedom and what it signifies when Jesus proclaims that he has come to bring freedom to the oppressed.

In this message we look again at Jesus’ desire to not only ‘release to captives’ but bring recovery and restoration to our lives. In particular we focus on how learning to forgive others is such a powerful way of experiencing healing in our own lives.

Luke 4 teaches that Jesus has come to bring recovery to our lives. In this sermon, we look at different facets of what that means, including how Jesus restores our identity, our ability to represent God on earth and finally how he has come to make us whole.

As we continue our series on the church being good news in the city, we consider what it means to be a community that helps people come home to God.
